Recently I have been incredibly impressed with Kylie Minogue, her songs "All the Lovers" and "Get Outta My Way" were amazing and she did a great job with Taio Cruz on "Higher," yet "Better Than Today" is a disappointment. The song is generally just boring, nothing but a typical dance track. Familiar electronic sounds and uninteresting lyrics come together in this song to make a real bore.
By this time Kylie has already shown that she can be creative when making a dance song and she should keep going, yet this song just offers the usual, get on the floor and dance, message. The song itself is catchy, but nothing more than that, which again is a disappointment for Kylie. This song would be acceptable for someone a little smaller than Kylie Minogue, but she is a hugh superstar and really can't be releasing so-so singles.
Musically the song has bit more jazzy feel than other previous songs. It features a recurring electronic beat that can easily get stuck in your head and make you want to boogie throughout the song. Overall the song is okay and could easily fit into a dance playlist, yet if you're hoping for another great Kylie song, you're out of luck.
